VP, Business Development and New Markets

Location: New York City

This position will play a crucial role at Madison Energy Investments, helping the team deploy hundreds of millions of dollars into the clean energy sector. Madison Energy Investments is a start-up atmosphere backed by a leading infrastructure fund.

This individual will report directly to the Managing Partner, Business Development. They will be responsible for business development and diligence activities surrounding our solar development and investments in the C&I distributed generation sector.

Summary of activities (in addition to whatever is required by all at a startup):

·       Oversees diligence internally and externally including financial modeling, investment committee memos and presentations, in-depth sensitivity analyses in conjunction with our various focus areas.

·       Leverage current partnerships and bring new ones to MEI in order to grow the pipeline of opportunities.

·       Developing new business and providing technical and financial guidance on solar development and investing to MEI partners.

·       Collaborate with Operations to align our diligence process within their technical guidelines and ensure negotiations with our EPC partners align with the business terms of the deal at hand.

·       Play a critical role in executing the overall strategic vision including development of MEI marketing strategy, key hires and new market and technology analysis.

 Ideal Expertise/Experience:

·       5+ years of experience in the power generation or electric utility industry in investment or business development related roles, experience working for a top-tier developer, experience in investment banking or advisory related to energy and natural resources, or proven track record at a successful startup.

·       First class presentation and communication skills including both internal (investment committee, new product development pitches, etc) and external (client pitches, conference presentations, etc) presentations.

·       Experience in creating and modifying presentation materials and assisting with the analysis supporting it.

·       Experience in renewable energy (especially solar) is strongly preferred.

·       BA/BS or equivalent is required with a preference of MBA and/or JD.

VP, Enterprise Operations

Location: Greater Washington D.C. area

This position will play a crucial role at Madison Energy Investments, leading the core operations and being involved in nearly every aspect of the business.

This individual reports directly to Managing Partner, Operations. Responsible for the day to day operations of the company.  Oversees and manages HR, Payroll, Insurance Compliance, Bookkeeping, Invoices and Accounts Payable.

Summary of activities (in addition to whatever is required by all at a startup):

Coordinates on a daily basis with all general office functions, to include but not be limited to:

Corporate compliance, forms and reports, office supplies, rent, shipping, printing, etc.

Assists Managing Partners in all business-related activities including:

  • Clerical work as needed during meetings

  • Vendor relations

  • Document preparation and proofing

  • Meeting preparation, coordination and scheduling

  • Hiring, on-boarding, and employee management

  • Other duties as assigned

 Ideal Expertise/Experience:

·       5+ years of experience in running day-to-day operations of a business.

·       Extremely organized, diligent, and ability to communicate openly and honestly with internal staff and external partners.

·       Experience at a startup is a plus.

·       Experience in renewable energy (especially solar) is strongly preferred.

·       BA/BS or equivalent is required.
