Falmouth, Maine - June 9th, 2023 - The town of Falmouth is delighted to announce the successful completion and inauguration of its remarkable 1.1 MW ground solar array site, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to clean and renewable energy.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on June 9th, 2023, at the solar array site located at the Falmouth transfer station to commemorate this achievement. In their opening address, Falmouth Town Council Chair, Peter LaFond, highlighted the importance of transitioning to clean and renewable energy sources. "Together, we have the power to make a lasting impact. Falmouth's commitment to championing sustainable energy initiatives is not just an investment in our environment but also an investment in our collective well-being. I couldn't be prouder of my team’s incredible impact in making our solar array project a reality. Their dedication, perseverance, and forward-thinking mindset are why we’re standing here today. For Falmouth, this is just the beginning. The council's commitment to future growth and expansion of renewable energy projects was reiterated, reflecting Falmouth's dedication to a greener and more sustainable future.

About the project: The solar array consists of 2,669 445W Seraphim bi-facial photovoltaic panels, capable of generating renewable energy from both sides, maximizing efficiency. The array is complemented by fourteen Sungrow 60kW inverters and one Sungrow 36kW inverter, ensuring optimal performance and energy conversion. The turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor is Tangent Energy Solutions, a Pennsylvania-based company. Tangent Energy Solutions has played a pivotal role in constructing the facility. Madison Energy Investments, another partner of Falmouth, will operate the solar array. The impact of the solar array is genuinely remarkable. It generates 1,677 MWh of clean energy annually, substantially contributing to Falmouth's renewable energy production. Moreover, the array is projected to offset over 700 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, equivalent to approximately 815 metric tons of oil. Over the next 20 years, the solar array will result in substantial carbon savings and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for the community.

‍

State Representative Teresa S Pierce spoke passionately about the solar array's role as a visible example of Falmouth's commitment to clean energy. “This project has the potential to inspire future generations to embrace renewable energy solutions and contribute to broader statewide goals of environmental preservation and sustainable development. "The town looks forward to the positive impact of the solar array site on the community, providing clean and renewable energy while reducing carbon emissions. Falmouth remains dedicated to pursuing further clean energy projects and inspiring neighboring communities to embrace sustainable practices.
