DENVER, CO, October 26, 2026 — Madison Energy Infrastructure today announced a 50 MW / 200 MWh battery energy storage portfolio with CORE Electric Cooperative across three sites in Colorado. The projects represent Madison’s largest distributed energy storage deployment to date, with commercial operations expected to begin by September 2027.

The projects will use Tesla Megapack technology and are among the first supported by Madison’s $50 million agreement with Tesla.

The portfolio will support CORE Electric Cooperative’s distribution infrastructure by adding capacity to meet growing electricity demand, including load growth from new development and broader economic expansion. Distributed storage gives CORE a more flexible and cost-effective way to strengthen its system and respond to changing local energy needs.

“Our partnership with CORE Electric Cooperative exemplifies our Community Infrastructure initiative and commitment to delivering value and benefits close to home,” said Richard Walsh, CEO of Madison Energy Infrastructure. “Leading municipal utilities and electric cooperatives play a vital role in meeting the moment of increasing demand while prioritizing local businesses and residents. We are proud to work alongside CORE as we deploy community-first energy infrastructure throughout the country.”

“Moving these battery storage projects from planning into construction puts us closer to delivering real benefits for our members,” said Chris Hildred, Chief Energy Supply Officer at CORE Electric Cooperative. “As electricity demand grows, this storage will help us manage peak demand, control power costs, and maintain reliable service. We’re pleased to take this next step with Madison as we prepare for our communities’ future.”

Battery storage is a key part of Madison’s Community Infrastructure initiative, helping communities add capacity, strengthen local energy systems, and prepare for growing demand from data centers, advanced manufacturing and other forms of economic growth. With dedicated capital and experience delivering distributed energy projects across the country, Madison is focused on bringing this technology to more communities at scale.
