MAY 28, 2025 — Madison Energy Infrastructure (MEI), a leading clean energy infrastructure ecosystem and owner-operator of clean energy assets across the United States, announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the company’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target, marking a significant milestone in MEI’s ongoing decarbonization strategy.

Under its validated target, MEI commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2023 as the base year. The company also aims to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions intensity—specifically from purchased goods, services, and capital goods—by 51.6% per megawatt-hour (MWh) of annual generated and planned renewable electricity within the same timeframe.

“SBTi’s approval of our ambitious targets is a meaningful step forward and reflects our commitment to the customers and communities we serve,” said Richard Walsh, CEO of Madison Energy Infrastructure. “We’re moving in the right direction with our own goals while delivering operational value, certainty, and sustainability to leading businesses and organizations. We’re proud to stand alongside them as they make bold decisions to prioritize long-term sustainability and even more excited to continue supporting their efforts with the tools and expertise to help generate lasting impact together.”

At MEI, we believe clean energy is the strategic engine of our global future and are privileged to work with hundreds of organizations and communities pursuing their own ambitious sustainability journeys.

By aligning with the SBTi, MEI joins a global network of over 10,000 companies committed to science-based targets and robust climate action.

About SBTi:
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis.

We develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest.

The SBTi is incorporated as a UK charity, with a subsidiary SBTi Services Limited, which hosts our target validation services (together with SBTi, the “SBTi Group”). Partner organizations who facilitated SBTi’s growth and development are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
