Director of Engineering
Overview:
Madison Energy Investments (“MEI”) believes in the power of clean energy infrastructure and has quickly emerged as a preeminent developer, investor, asset owner, and operator of distributed generation. This role represents a critical next step in MEI’s evolution toward offering direct, end-to-end services to Fortune 500 corporates, public entities, nonprofits, and other private customers alike.
The position will play a critical role with managing the technical evaluation and diligence for new opportunities and eventual design and permitting of solar electric systems, battery systems and other distributed energy projects. This position is best filled by a multi-disciplined, self-starter with excellent leadership skills.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Directing, evaluating, and setting design standards for MEI and all projects.
• Responsible for all engineering decisions within MEI.
o Setting design criteria and standards.
o Coordinating procurement decisions.
o Managing Technical Specifications.
• Assisting Business Development with initial layouts and energy assessments.
• Managing operational budget of engineering department.
• Growing the internal engineering and project management resources.
• Developing partnership and relationships for repeat business with customers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
• Managing field audits of projects under construction and in operations for technical compliance.
• Creating a high functioning team environment though coaching, training, and mentorship of team members.
What We Are Looking For:
• 2-5 years’ experience serving in a similar capacity.
• Effective in customer presentations, strong written and oral communication skills required.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Multi-tasker with a strong work ethic.
• Superior interpersonal skills and a team-first mentality.
Working Conditions:
• Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
• Work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.
• Work requires out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.
Location: Tysons Corner, VA
Compensation Range: $100,000 – $200,000
