The threat to net metering stemming from the shadowy group NERA continued to make headlines this month. Catherine Morehouse of Utility Dive has done an outstanding job keeping everyone up to speed on the developments. She reported that the utilities and EEI remained silent on the proposal and tracked the messaging from Congress urging FERC to reject the petition. Utility Dive published a thoughtful opinion piece on the subject and GTM2 had a nice overview of the potential implications to net metering. Finally I was one of 50,000 + that received an amazing email from Solar United Neighbors saying “You were one of the 56,605 people from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. who acted to make sure the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) heard our demand to protect solar rights. Thank you!” And as seen in the graphic below, there was also significant support of solar rights from Governors, Congress, PUCs and more.
