MEI Lands Top-Tier General Counsel
Tysons, VA [May 7, 2020] – Madison Energy Investments (“MEI”) announced that Guillermo Coustasse recently joined the company General Counsel assisting with the team’s efforts on all phases of the business including origination, construction, acquisitions and financings. “I am excited to join the MEI team and work with what many in the industry have told me is the best team in C&I solar. In speaking with my friends at various banks and advisory firms, all had the same feedback: great team with smart money behind them, and outstanding execution,” stated Coustasse. “The C&I solar sector is a unique and valuable niche and it takes a team like MEI’s to achieve scale.”“We knew coming into the hiring process that this was a crucial step in our journey,” said MEI Managing Partner Steve Cunningham. “We vetted dozens of quality candidates and Guillermo’s applicable experience, reputation among our partners and perspective on the role of a General Counsel ultimately made him our top choice for the role.”Prior to joining MEI, Guillermo worked at top tier law firms in Argentina, Chile and the US and held senior legal roles at multiple top solar developers. He has represented clients or acted as in-house counsel for the financing or acquisition of more than 3 GW of projects totaling more than $5 billion in asset value across more than 20 countries. Up until this point, MEI has used David John Frenkil, an experienced project finance attorney as part-time Counsel. Frenkil, who also owns and manages Centennial, a solar developer/EPC business in Africa, will stay on as an advisor to MEI. “John has played a significant role in our growth up to this point” said MEI Managing Partner Jack Hachmann. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without his help, but the time came where we needed someone in-house full-time. We couldn’t be happier with Guillermo and are thankful to John for staying on in an advisory capacity.”About Madison Energy Investments: Madison Energy Investments is a platform that develops, owns and operates distributed generation assets within the commercial and industrial (C&I) and small utility-scale sectors.
